It is with a very sad heart that our friend Father Don Bosco Darsi informed Father John Retar of the passing of his brother Father Jeeva, due to complications from COVID. The pandemic there is very critical and the death toll is numerous due to the living conditions and lack of medical services. Please as a parish of compassion and love, let us lift our prayers in solitude with his family for the lost of this very compassionate priest. May the angels in heaven meet him at heavens gate. Escort him to his heavenly Jerusalem where there will be no more tears or suffering. May his and our heavenly savior hold him in his embrace of love. God bless Father Jeeva Darsi, may Gods wrap his arms of compassion around his family with and help them heal their suffering. Letter from our friend and brother in Christ Father Don Bosco Darsi.
From Father John Retar, This is a letter I, and Global Solidarity received from Fr. Don Bosco regarding the death of his brother Fr. Jeeva whose mission we have helped financially through Global Solidarity. On the CruxNow website, an Indian Catholic journalist reported that at least 117 priests in India have died of Covid 19 between April 10 and May 14, not to mention those who have died previously and the religious sisters. Because Catholics are on the forefront of medical care, we have suffered death disproportionately high. I was sent a video of Fr. Jeeva made on Good Friday and hope to get it on the website. Dear Fr. Retar! Seemingly the variant of Covid we have in India, there is no vaccine that can control it. People who get it very quickly succumb to death. One such victim is my brother Jeeva. Life has changed so much for our family and personally for me because of this tragedy. It is not easy. Our hearts are broken. My brother Jeeva took up the cross at the Good Friday liturgy and certainly did not think that this was his last way of the cross. His way of the cross began on Easter Monday after he discovered the attack of corona virus, upon hospitalization, he immediately went to an intensive care but it was too late. We tried out everything possible, it was in vain! In the end God's plan prevailed. He returned to his Creator on May 6, 2021. The very next day he was buried in our home village Thukkuluru, Nuzvid. Jeeva, who was there and surrounded by the many people at all times of the day and night. He served Jesus with full commitment as a priest for 21 years, some days he worked as many as 20 hours. For Jeeva, poor and disadvantaged people have always been a top priority. Even in intensive care, he was worried about his "Sheep" and personally arranged for all masses in his parish. Not being able to look after himself was so fatal. Now we hope that the Lord will show mercy and welcome him into heaven. May his guardian angel accompany him. We provided the best medical care. Corporate medical system was mercilessly exploitative, they charged us around 28,000 Dollars. Many poor families suffer the brunt of it, some even sell their belongings to clear the bills. Please pray that India will soon be healed. in sorrowful Jesus Bosco.
